Wroughton Parish Church

We focus on the life of the worldwide church through the work of Mission Matters. Over the past year the group has enabled us to focus on the work of Tearfund www.tearfund.org to widen our understanding of what they do and to raise funds for their work. Numerous events in the course of the year have included a pancake party on Shrove Tuesday, a hunger lunch in Lent and a summer ramble.

The charities and mission organisations we support include:

  • Christian Aid
  • Church Mission Society
  • Children’s Society
  • Legge House (our neighbouring youth residential centre)
  • Mission to Seafarers
  • Tearfund

In the coming year we will focus on Sri Lanka . The Revd Rosemary Fletcher, formerly Methodist minister in Wroughton is going to work at the Theological College of Lanka www.tclsl.org.

The students and staff at the college have been involved in the clear up operations after the boxing day tsunami as well as continuing to offer theological education.

We will be supporting Rosemary and her husband James Rowley, who were married at Wroughton Parish Church on 21/6/97 and are together serving here in Sir Lanka, in their work with our prayers and financially.

Please visit their web site at www.rosemaryandjames.methodistchurch.co.uk for more information.
